LIPA CITY, BATANGAS – Philippine Veterans Bank’s inauguration of its Lipa City branch was made extra-special as the event was graced by none other than the Batangas governor herself, Governor Vilma Santos, who also led the ribbon-cutting ceremony along with Veterans Bank President and CEO, Ricardo A. Balbido Jr.
Officials from the Provincial Government of Batangas and the City of Lipa witnessed the ceremonies along with other Veterans Bank officers and staff, and their guests who flocked to the branch not only to share in the celebration of the presence of the bank in Lipa City but also to marvel at the combined star and political power of the popular actress-governor.
PVB Lipa Branch, located at the SMB Building in Barangay Marauoy along J.P. Laurel Highway , is one of the ten branches that Veterans Bank opened early this year under its “10 in 2010” branch expansion program. It is the bank’s second branch in the province of Batangas, the first being PVB Batangas City.
As one of the fast-emerging commercial hubs in Southern Luzon, Lipa City has been an attractive market for the bank and to finally open a branch in the city last January has allowed Veterans Bank to partake in the city’s economic growth.
This also allowed the bank to offer more convenience to its stakeholders – the Filipino World War II veterans and their families based in Lipa and its surrounding districts – as they no longer need to travel far to receive their pensions and avail of PVB’s extended services to veterans.
Philippine Veterans Bank now has a total branch network of 60 nationwide and has enjoyed considerable growth and success in recent years. It hopes to open more branches in the future especially in high-growth areas and places where they can be of further service to World War II veterans. As part of its charter, the bank allocates 20% of its income for the benefit of its stakeholders.
